Our Music Together in School Program is off to a great start!
While some families may have participated in (and loved!) Music Together with their little ones prior to preschool, this in school program is specifically targeted for children through grade 2. We are very excited about this addition to our programming at L’Ecole Française du Maine!
Meet Maggie Simon:
After many years as a parent participant in Music Together classes, Maggie is excited to be joining Music Together of Greater Portland and teaching at L’Ecole Française du Maine. While she began her career sharing music with children as a Music Therapist, the past 13 years have been dedicated to raising her three children. Maggie’s love of music began at an early age and she has always found ways to include music in her life. She is currently a member of Evenlight Hospice Choir in Yarmouth. She is so happy to have the opportunity to share the joy of music with young families in Music Together. Maggie lives with her husband Dan, and their children Riley, Ben, and Andrew in Pownal, Maine.
You should have received a CD and materials last week and you are likely already singing along with your child. Please keep in mind you are always welcome to join the fun in the classroom for our weekly classes on Monday mornings! Maggie has prepared a basket of instruments for classroom use throughout the week so that our French teachers can reinforce the program en français all week long. In our early childhood program, music is a very important part of everything we do. Each morning our daily classroom rituals involve songs and the children love to sing along. We think you will too, so please do join us whenever you can!
More about Music Together in schools:
(from Music Together)
The international Music Together program has been offered worldwide for more than twenty-five years. The comprehensive Music Together In School curriculum for children from birth through second grade offers early learning settings a consistently high level of music education that’s geared to the way children learn. Children can enjoy a playful learning environment that’s musically rich, yet immediately accessible to their-and their teacher’s-participation. Teachers love the professional development and family engagement at the root of the program. And parents love that the music comes home, so they can share in the experience. The curriculum supports the work of classroom teachers and engages parents, in addition to supporting each child’s music and overall development.
