Adult Education

French learning for every level — beginner to advanced.

Overview

The French School of Maine offers adult and community French classes as a standalone program, open to parents, alumni, and anyone in the community who wishes to learn or strengthen their French for personal, academic, or professional reasons. Classes are available at all levels—from complete beginners to advanced speakers seeking to refine their skills—and may be offered in person or online, depending on the session. Separately and in parallel, the school also offers access to DELF certification, an internationally recognized French proficiency exam. These two offerings are distinct and independent: enrollment in adult French classes does not require pursuing DELF certification. However, highly motivated learners may choose to work toward a DELF diploma as an optional goal to formally validate their level of French. Participation in the certification process is entirely voluntary and not a requirement of the classes.
