The French School of Maine is an independent day school in South Freeport, Maine - USA. The school is home to 80 students enrolled in EC2 (Toute Petite Section) through Grade 5 (CM2). POSITION DESCRIPTION: Grades: EC2 - EC3 - EC4 - K - 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5
TPS to CM2 Teacher, Primary Years Program, IB PYP (this position commences August 31, 2025, to June 20, 2026
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The teacher is responsible for planning and implementing the curriculum of the French Ministry of Education (MENJS-AEFE-MLF) within the International Baccalaureate framework (IB PYP).  The teacher creates an environment where students can learn and develop optimally.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Three or more years of teaching experience.
  • Experience living abroad or teaching abroad at the preschool and elementary level
  • Experience in differentiating instruction and supporting students with learning challenges.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • French native speaker or C1 French Language Level
  • Effective interpersonal skills with children and adults
  • Highly collegial and collaborative team partner who is committed to collaborative planning and continuous professional growth
  • Strong knowledge of children’s developmental and educational needs
  • A record of encouraging, nurturing, and supporting students’ love of learning
  • A lifelong learner with critical thinking and communication skills

Teacher Assistant
Assist the Lead Teacher in a French immersion preschool classroom. The ideal candidate will be fluent in French. Experience working with young children and a background in Early Childhood Education are preferred skills. The candidate should be warm, patient, kind, and flexible. Duties include interacting with children, preparing materials, helping children dress for recess and trips to the restroom, and supervising naps, lunchtime, and recess. The Assistant Teacher should also be prepared to take direction from the lead teacher and conduct activities as needed. Some light cleaning tasks will be assigned to keep up with our COVID-19 protocols and help children at lunch. A background check and First Aid/CPR certification are required upon hire. This position is available immediately. 2025 Summer Camp Counselors

The French School of Maine seeks several dynamic and passionate French-speaking camp counselors to join our Bilingual French summer camps team for children ages 3-12. The successful candidates will lead and supervise a group of campers while ensuring their safety and well-being.

  • Lead activities such as short French lessons, games, creative arts and crafts, and other camp-related activities, using lessons, activities, and content created/prepared by our educational team.
  • Act as a role model for campers, promoting good behavior and positive attitudes.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times.
  • Maintain a high energy level, enthusiasm, and engagement daily at camp. Learn, participate, and lead by example in all activities.
  • Supervise and mentor campers, providing guidance and support as needed. Listen to campers and encourage them to share their thoughts, feelings, and ideas when appropriate.
  • Communicate with parents and guardians as needed.
  • Organize materials, set up the classrooms, and clean up after each day.
