Bonjour,
With our vacation week and the many wonderful events scheduled for the remaining of October, this month has flown by like a witch on her broom! Most pressingly, this newsletter includes the plan for this Friday’s Halloween Celebration, with a back-up indoor alternative should it rain. We will be announcing no later than noon on Friday the parade’s location so you can plan accordingly. We look forward to seeing you either at our outdoor parade or at a specially prepared indoor celebration! Please see details below!
Earlier last week, the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade participated in a belated Indigenous Peoples’ Day workshop, aboard a charter boat exploring Casco Bay through a Wabanaki lens– with special guest Wabanaki Storyteller and Cultural Educator Minquansis Sapiel. The full story can be found below, as well as beautiful photos!
Please use the links below to sign-up for your Parent Teacher Conferences this fall! Taking place on Friday Nov. 7th (an Early Release with dismissal for all at 11:30 am), we hope you enjoy this time to check-in and discuss your student’s growth so far this school year. Progress Reports for the first trimester will be sent home before conferences for families to review before meeting with teachers.
Thank you to those who have already submitted a nomination for Parent Representatives to the School Council. We are still hoping to add a few more names to the hat before the online election on Tuesday Nov. 4th, so please do reach out if you are willing to volunteer to the small commitment of strengthening bonds between families and the school, and being a part of discussions surrounding student experience at EFDM. Read more below.
As always, please contact the office with any questions at office@frenchschool.me
Merci beaucoup!
Emily and Willy
