Willy LeBihan is a bilingual French-American educator, entrepreneur, and nonprofit leader with more than 30 years of experience in international education. He founded the French School of Maine in 2002, the French American School of Tampa Bay in 2017, and La Maison Française du Maine in 2018.
Originally trained as a geologist, Willy has devoted his career to combining the strengths of the French and American educational systems with the International Baccalaureate philosophy to create nurturing, academically rigorous schools where children develop curiosity, confidence, and a global perspective. In 2026, he was recognized by Education Insider as one of the nation’s Top 10 Heads of School in recognition of his leadership and contributions to international education.
His contributions to education have also been recognized by the French Government, which appointed him a Chevalier des Palmes Académiques in 2009, one of France’s highest distinctions for educators, in recognition of his service to the French language and culture. Earlier, he was awarded the Médaille de la Défense nationale for his service with the French Armed Forces.
Outside of school, Willy enjoys geology, astronomy, classical guitar, and science-fiction literature. He and his wife, Beth, enjoy exploring Maine’s lakes, Casco Bay, and Tampa Bay with their three grown children.
